點我
I was still sleep when my mom called me in the morning. It was eight thirty in the morning (I guess), and I was woken up by my cell phone. I was still sleepy then, and my mom sounds a bit surprised because she though that I should have woke up then.
I went to take a shower after I finish talking with my mom. The bathroom equipment was very strange. It took me a while to understand how it works. = = We chose the amount of water on one side, and the temperature of the water on the other side.
After I finished, I called Karen to wake up. The morning call is ten minutes late than the time we’ve told them. We went down stairs for breakfast, and eventually walked to the wrong place. They didn’t inform us that they’ve change the place for breakfast. There were two different kinds of croissants on each glass plate, placed on each seat, I like the chocolate one. :) The cereal that they provided wasn’t sweet, so I added sugar in it, the bacon was too salty, and I like the scrambled eggs in Taiwan ’s hotel better. :P They even provided instant noodles and hot water!!
We headed to the Palace of Versailles (凡爾賽宮), at ten. Sharon introduced the bus driver (I forgot his name = =) to us, he will drive the bus for us for the next week. :) I thought it was a small bus, but it’s actually a big one!! I started to regret that I didn’t bring the bag of Walkers onto the bus, because it took up a lot of space in our room. It will be more convenient for others if I left the Walkers on the bus.
My first impression of this tourist sight is ‘luxurious’. o.0 I mean, it’s hard for people to NOT think of this word when you first saw it. It was large, and GOLDEN. I feel like seeing something sparkling from far away. There is a big statue in front of the entrance, and also a LARGE parking lot with a lot a buses between the statue and the gate of the Palace of Versailles .
There were a lot of people waiting in line to go inside. o.0 We can finally see the buildings after the big long golden gates. I can imagine how shocked the nobles were back in the 18th century. There is a Chinese guide waiting for us, she is going to make a tour guide, so that we can know more about the Palace of Versailles .
There is a security checking people’s bags before we went inside. I was SO embarrassed when the women smiled unnaturally when she saw the Walkers in my bag. (I should have left them in the bus!!!) The guide gave us earphones so that we can hear her explanation when we’re not together in the same room.
She is really good at telling the history of Louis 14, I bet she had done this for many times. I was amazed by the paintings of each room, each of them tells a different story or legend, and they are all really meticulous. There is a room repairing. :P Too bad we couldn’t see every room.
The view outside is better than inside, because after visiting a few rooms, I found out that the painting style is similar, and I lose my interest to it. There is a LARGE garden outside, with a lot of fountains. It looks just like the picture I’ve seen on my textbook, with a long white stairs lying between a small forest. The only difference is we can see modern buildings behind. :P
We then walked into the Hall of Mirrors. The mirrors reflect the sunlight coming through the window form the other side, and all those candlesticks hanging from the ceiling made the room incredibly……I don’t know how to describe it, but I just don’t like this room. It is WAY TOO shiny!
Entering the kings bedroom, I couldn’t help thinking of the life of Louis 14, because I would NEVER EVER want to live a live like him. His bed is SO big, and over decorated (?), but there is only a bed in this room, while there are other rooms for other things. The Chinese guide also told us that there were a large amount of servants serving him. I couldn’t stand living in a place with almost no privacy, I guess the kings back there do like the life with people serving them.
We then headed to the queens room, I was surprised to hear that there will be a lot of people looking at the queen when she is giving birth to a child. That is under a lot of pressure. o.0 However, the guide told us that there are other rooms that the queen actually lives in, this room is just for showing the novels that they are rich.
The guide also told us that there will be a lot of novels WACTHING the king and queen having their meal. How could anyone on Earth ENJOY their meals under a lot of people’s sight! That also means that they MUST be in good manner every time. How tiring!! I’m glad that I’m not born in such family. :P
The rooms after that have paintings of the revolution army, including Napoleon, and the painting at his coronation ceremony. A part of the ceiling is covered by some paper (I guess), which is waiting to be fixed. The stairs where the revolution army came in lead us to the souvenir shop, which is full of people AGAIN. = = We were attracted by a commemorative coin selling machine, almost every one of us get one for ourselves.
I was sad that we couldn’t visit the garden. :( Maybe it’s a good thing because it’s getting warmer at noon. We hurried out to get to the restaurant for lunch. I don’t think that we need to hurry since there is plenty of time, and I don’t like to be in a hurry either…… We invited the guide to have lunch with us, but she rejected. Thanks for her explanation. :)))
